FlipCross.

Price crosses the GEX Flip Point between two real-time snapshots, moving the name from one gamma regime to the other. It fires once per cross, not while price sits near the level.

01 /The trigger

What triggers it

Named setup

  • Price was on one side of the Flip on the previous snapshot and is on the other side now.
  • A cross above the Flip moves the name into the positive gamma side; a cross below moves it into the negative gamma side. The alert names the new regime.
  • It is a crossing event, not a proximity alert. Sitting near the Flip does not fire it.
02 /Regime

Regime context

  • The Flip is where net dealer gamma changes sign. Above it, hedging tends to damp moves; below it, hedging tends to amplify them.
  • A Flip Cross therefore tells you how the name is likely to move from here (more damped or more amplified), not which way.
  • Regimes are described as positive or negative gamma, never as bullish or bearish.

03 /Invalidation

When it stops

  • Staying on the new side does not fire again. The next alert needs a new cross.
  • Crossing back is a new event and can fire again, subject to the per-ticker cooldown you control in alert settings.
  • Crosses are often not durable. Our SPX study found many flip crossings did not hold on the same side for long, so treat a cross as a regime update rather than a signal.

06 /Workflow

How to use it

  1. Turn it on. Keep the Flip Cross trigger on in your DealerEdge GEX alert settings, and choose watchlist, a custom list or all covered tickers as the source.
  2. Update your regime read. When it fires, adjust your expectations for how the name moves: more damped after crossing above, more amplified after crossing below.
  3. Check whether it holds. Watch whether price stays on the new side before you lean on the new regime. Many crosses do not hold.
  4. Make your own plan. Re-check size and stops against the new regime, and take direction from your own confirmation rather than from the cross.
08 /FAQ

Common questions

Is a Flip Cross below the Flip a short signal?

No. It tells you the name moved into the negative gamma side, where moves tend to be amplified in both directions. Our SPX GEX report found that many flip crossings did not hold on the same side for long, so a cross is a regime update, not a direction call.

Why did I only get one alert while price stayed above the Flip?

Flip Cross fires once per cross. Staying on the new side is not a new event. It fires again only if price crosses back, subject to your per-ticker cooldown.

Not financial advice. Setups describe dealer positioning and market structure, not predictions, and a setup appearing does not mean price will move in any direction.
