2026 /Best Options Flow Tools

Best options flow toolsand scanners, compared.

Eight options flow scanners compared the way a trader shortlists them: what each prints on the tape, what it adds on top, what it costs, and who it fits. Including where ours is not the right pick.

OptionFlowis one of the products compared below. Competitor details come from each vendor's public pricing and product pages and should be checked before you buy. Where a vendor does not publish a fact, we say "not published" rather than guess.

Verified September 24, 2026

Every options flow tool starts from the same public tape: each options trade, its size, its price and where it filled. What separates them is what they do with it. Some label sweeps and blocks, some tell you whether the buyer or seller was the aggressor, some compare the day's volume with open interest to flag likely new positions, and a few score every print. The rest of the value is what sits next to the feed: dark pool prints, dealer positioning (GEX), alerts, mobile apps and AI.

How we compared

Each fact below comes from the vendor's own pricing or product pages, checked on September 24, 2026. We looked for the lowest plan that includes the real-time flow feed, then for the features that change how you read a print: trade-type labels, fill side, volume against open interest, a score on each print, and what else the plan bundles. Where a vendor does not document a feature publicly, the table says so instead of assuming.

Free and delayed feeds are noted but not compared as equals. A flow feed that is 15 minutes or two days behind is a research tool, not a trading tool.

03 /The platforms

Platform by platform.

Best for flow, dark pool and GEX in one plan

Trade Echo OptionFlowfrom $199/mo

OptionFlow is Trade Echo's real-time options flow scanner. Every print shows its trade type, where it filled from below the bid to above the ask, volume against open interest, premium and a signed Flow Score from -100 to +100. The sign is the print's directional lean from where it filled; the size of the score grows with premium, contract size, how far out of the money it is, volume over open interest and how decisively it filled. Built-in presets (Directional, Repeaters, Sweeps, OTM calls, OTM puts) and premium filters cut the tape down fast.

The reason to pick it is what sits beside the feed on the same plan: Discovery ranks the day's standout opening prints (see how the Discovery score works), DealerEdge shows GEX, vanna and charm by strike, the Darkpool module shows large off-exchange prints, and Cortex AI can pull flow, standout prints and dark pool into one answer. Native iOS and Android apps carry the same alerts.

Best at: reading a print in context: flow, dealer positioning and dark pool on one plan, on web and native mobile.

Trade-offs: one $199/mo plan with no cheaper flow-only tier, so if you only ever want a raw flow feed, the budget tools below cost less. Dark pool prints live in their own module rather than inline in the flow table.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): $199/mo, $2,199/yr or $3,499 lifetime, every module included.

Pick Trade Echo OptionFlow if you want flow, GEX and dark pool together without stacking three subscriptions. Compare the full platform in Trade Echo vs Unusual Whales.

Best for data breadth per dollar

Unusual Whalesfrom $50/mo

Unusual Whales is the best-known retail flow platform, with a large catalog around the core feed: sweep, cross and floor flags, bid/mid/ask side, dark pool, a GEX heatmap, congressional trading data and more. Its free flow is delayed; real-time flow starts on Retail Basic.

Best at: sheer breadth of data for the price, with an iOS app and an AI assistant.

Trade-offs: no published score on each print (it uses sentiment tags), Basic caps you at 25 alerts, and the amount of data takes time to learn.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): Retail Basic $50/mo or $504/yr; higher plans add alerts and faster GEX.

Pick Unusual Whales if you want the widest catalog of market data at an entry price and like to explore.

Best for a clean, simple feed

Cheddar Flowfrom $85/mo

Cheddar Flow built its name on a clean, readable flow feed with sweep flags and buy/sell detection. Dark pool and GEX sit on the Pro plan, along with AI power alerts and Discord bots.

Best at: an easy-to-read feed for traders who want the tape and not much else.

Trade-offs: block labels, a per-print score and a native mobile app are not documented, and dark pool plus GEX need the $99/mo Pro plan.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): Standard $85/mo; Pro $99/mo (about $75/mo on Pro annual).

Pick Cheddar Flow if you value a simple interface over depth.

Best for a sweep-focused feed

FlowAlgofrom $149/mo

FlowAlgo is one of the longest-running flow services, focused on sweeps and blocks with voice alerts. It adds equity block prints, which its site says are delayed up to 20 minutes.

Best at: a focused sweep and block feed with voice alerts.

Trade-offs: no GEX, no documented fill-side or volume-over-OI tools, no native app found, and it costs more than most feeds here.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): $149/mo, from $99/mo billed annually; two-week trial for $37.

Pick FlowAlgo if you only want sweeps and blocks and like audio alerts. See Trade Echo vs FlowAlgo.

Best for flow plus exposure charts on a budget

Quant Datafrom $74.99/mo

Quant Data pairs a flow feed (blocks, splits, sweeps) with dark pool, a Net Drift indicator and exposure charts for gamma, delta, vanna and charm. It has native iOS and Android apps and an API with MCP support for AI assistants.

Best at: a lot of exposure analytics for the price, with real mobile apps.

Trade-offs: fill side, volume over OI and a per-print score are not documented publicly, and reviewers note a learning curve.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): $74.99/mo or $62.50/mo billed annually.

Pick Quant Data if you want flow and all four exposure Greeks at a mid price.

Best entry price

BullFlowfrom $39/mo

BullFlow is the cheapest real-time flow feed here, with a SigScore on prints, GEX levels on Basic and a heatmap with replay on Premium. It has iOS and Android apps.

Best at: getting started with real-time flow for under $40 a month.

Trade-offs: its pricing page does not detail trade-type labels, fill side or volume over OI, and dark pool needs the Premium plan.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): Basic $39/mo or $396/yr; Premium $69/mo.

Pick BullFlow if budget comes first and you are still learning to read flow.

Best flat, all-features plan

InsiderFinancefrom $75/mo

InsiderFinance sells one plan with every feature: sweep and block flow, dark pool, email data alerts and an AI flow analysis, plus iOS and Android apps.

Best at: simple pricing with no feature tiers.

Trade-offs: fill side, volume over OI and a per-print score are not documented, and alerts are email-based.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): $75/mo, $195/quarter or $55/mo billed annually.

Pick InsiderFinance if you want flow and dark pool without choosing between tiers.

Best for Skylit's GEX users

Skylit Flowseekerfrom $99.99/mo

Flowseeker is Skylit's flow module, included from its $99.99/mo Community plan. It flags sweeps, multi-leg and cross trades, shows fill side, compares size and volume with open interest (including the next day's OI change), and adds its own Flow Score and a Dark Feed. Up to 25 flow alerts go to in-app, push, email or Discord DM.

Best at: a well-built feed with good open-interest context, especially if you already use Heatseeker.

Trade-offs: the Heatseeker GEX web app costs $299/mo for indices or $699/mo for the full ticker list, the Talon AI is on the $699 plan only, and there is no native iOS or Android app.

Pricing (September 24, 2026): Community $99.99/mo or $948/yr; Initiate $299/mo; Pro $699/mo.

Pick Skylit Flowseeker if you are in the Skylit ecosystem and flow is your entry point. See Trade Echo vs Heatseeker.

04 /FAQ

Common questions

What is the best options flow scanner?

It depends on what you pair with the flow. For a raw feed on a budget, BullFlow and Quant Data cost the least. For the widest data catalog, Unusual Whales. For flow read next to dealer positioning and dark pool on one plan, with native mobile apps, Trade Echo's OptionFlow is built for that. Whatever you pick, make sure it shows fill side and volume against open interest, because those two separate new positions from noise.

How do flow tools tell if a trade was bought or sold?

By where the print filled relative to the quote. A fill at or above the ask suggests an aggressive buyer; at or below the bid suggests an aggressive seller; mid fills are ambiguous. Tools that label fill side (OptionFlow, Unusual Whales, Flowseeker) let you separate buying from selling. Tools that only show size and premium leave you guessing.

What does volume over open interest mean in options flow?

When a contract trades more today than its open interest from the morning, at least some of that volume has to be new positions rather than closes. It is one of the simplest ways to spot fresh positioning. Open interest only updates once a day, so confirm with the next morning's OI change.

Is a flow score worth having?

A score is a sorting tool, not a signal. It helps you find the prints worth reading first. OptionFlow's Flow Score shows each print's directional lean and conviction, and the Discovery score ranks the day's standout opening prints. Neither is a win probability, and no vendor's score should be traded blindly.

Do I need GEX as well as options flow?

Flow tells you what traders are doing; GEX estimates how dealers must hedge. Together they answer whether a big print is likely to move price or get absorbed. Read GEX vs Options Flow for how to combine them, and see our comparison of GEX tools.
