2026 /Best GEX Tools

Best GEX tools & gammaexposure platforms, compared.

Six gamma exposure platforms compared the way a trader would actually compare them: what each one is genuinely best at, what it costs, where it falls short, and who should pick it. Including the places where our own product is not the right answer.

This comparison is published by Trade Echo, which develops DealerEdge - one of the products reviewed below. Competitor information is based on publicly available product and pricing pages and should be independently verified before purchasing. Where a vendor does not publish a fact, we say "not published" rather than guessing.

Verified August 21, 2026

Gamma exposure went from a niche dealer-desk concept to a standard part of the intraday toolkit in about five years, and the tooling market followed: there are now at least a dozen platforms selling some version of a GEX chart. They are not interchangeable. They differ on refresh cadence, ticker coverage, whether they model second-order greeks like charm and vanna, whether the data lives in their app or pipes into yours, and - more than anything - on what kind of trader they were built for.

This page compares the six platforms serious options traders actually shortlist, plus a roundup of budget and free tools. If you are new to the concept itself, read What Is Gamma Exposure? first - this page assumes you know why dealer hedging moves markets and focuses on which tool shows it to you best.

01 /The field

How we compared

Every fact here comes from vendor pricing pages, product documentation, or clearly labeled third-party sources, checked in August 2026. We scored nothing. Instead, each product gets the same treatment: what it is, what it is genuinely best at, its real trade-offs, current pricing, and who should pick it. Where a vendor's claim could not be verified - several pricing pages in this space are unreadable to crawlers or blocked outright - the table says "not published" instead of repeating the claim.

One thing worth knowing before you compare numbers across platforms: absolute GEX values are not comparable between vendors. Different models produce different magnitudes from the same option chain. Regimes, levels, and changes usually do line up. We document the public version of our approach in the Trade Echo GEX methodology - judge every vendor, including us, by whether they are willing to show theirs.

Platform by platform.

Best for specialist GEX inside a full platform

Trade Echo DealerEdgefrom $199/mo

DealerEdge is Trade Echo's gamma exposure suite: real-time GEX, volatility, vanna (VEX), and charm lenses computed from the live options chain, rendered as a strike-by-expiration heatmap with derived key levels - an Anchor, Defense Lines, a gamma Flip Point, and a 1-5 rating that scores the volatility regime (not direction - a 5 is "dealers dampen moves," not "bullish").

DealerEdge gamma exposure heatmap showing per-strike GEX across expirations with anchor and flip levels

Coverage is 275+ pre-computed tickers - 5 indices, roughly 50 ETFs, and 220+ single stocks - updated in real time, every second, with any other optionable US ticker computable on demand. Session replay lets you scrub back through the intraday GEX history, which matters more than it sounds: reviewing how positioning evolved into a big move is how the levels actually become useful. An AI analysis layer reads the current GEX structure and summarizes it in plain language, and the same platform includes options flow, dark pool prints, and Pulse charting, so GEX is one lens among several rather than a standalone subscription.

Where DealerEdge is honestly beaten. Two things. First, there is no daily analyst commentary layer - SpotGamma's Founder's Note is a genuine product advantage if you want a human telling you what the positioning means each morning. Second, our charm and vanna surfaces come from standard models applied to the option chain, not from order-by-order dealer-book accumulation. We publish the public version of that approach in the GEX methodology - read it before trusting any vendor's numbers, ours included.

Pricing (as of Aug 2026): $199/mo, $2,199/yr, or $3,499 lifetime - the lifetime price covers the whole Trade Echo platform, and it is the only lifetime tier offered by any product in this comparison.

Pick DealerEdge if you want specialist-grade GEX - multi-greek lenses, real-time updates every second, replay, wide single-stock coverage - bundled inside a full trading platform instead of paying for a separate gamma subscription on top of everything else. See the full feature tour at DealerEdge.

Best for daily analyst commentary

SpotGammafrom $299/mo

SpotGamma is the platform that made gamma exposure a retail vocabulary word, and it remains the category standard. The product is really two layers: a research desk and a real-time data platform. The research desk is the daily Founder's Note, FlowPatrol flow reports, key levels, webinars, and Discord, written by analysts who have been reading dealer positioning longer than almost anyone selling to retail. Real-time tooling - the TRACE positioning map, Equity Hub with 3,500+ stocks, and HIRO, a live indicator of estimated hedging-impact flow - sits on the Alpha tier and above.

Best at:daily expert commentary plus real-time hedging flow on the data tier. No competitor matches the analyst layer - if your workflow is "tell me what today's positioning means and alert me when flow shifts," SpotGamma is the benchmark.

Trade-offs: core gamma levels are computed daily, pre-market - the intraday real-time element is HIRO flow, not a continuously recomputed strike map - and live single-stock tooling (HIRO, TRACE, Equity Hub) requires the $299/mo Alpha tier. Charm and vanna appear in commentary and TRACE rather than as first-class per-strike lenses on retail tiers. There is no published retail API and no charting-platform overlay product. If you want a strike map that updates every second plus the rest of a trading platform, that is DealerEdge at $199/mo.

Pricing (as of Aug 2026): Alpha $299/mo for the real-time / data tier, Institutional from $1,999/mo; annual billing available at a discount; per-tier annual dollars not verified.

Pick SpotGamma if you value interpretation as much as data. The commentary is the moat, and it is a real one.

Best for levels in your charting platform

MenthorQfrom $129/mo

MenthorQ's bet is different from everyone else's: instead of making you trade inside their app, they pipe gamma levels into the charting platform you already use. The integration list - TradingView, NinjaTrader, ATAS, Quantower, Bookmap, Sierra Chart, MotiveWave, and more, 10+ in total - is the broadest in the space by a wide margin. The core model publishes six ranked GEX levels (GEX 1 being the strongest) across SPX, futures like ES, and a large stock list, backed by a 350+ lesson academy and, on the Pro tier, live mentorship hours with working traders.

Best at: levels inside your platform. If you trade futures from NinjaTrader or Sierra Chart, nobody else meets you where you already work the way MenthorQ does - plus the most structured education program in the category.

Trade-offs: the data refresh cadence and open interest freshness are not disclosed, which makes it hard to evaluate for fast intraday work. The product is levels-first rather than a full per-strike exposure surface, and skeptics make a fair statistical point: with six levels on a chart, price will inevitably touch one of them, so treat level-hit-rate claims accordingly. Charm/vanna lenses and an API are not advertised.

Pricing (as of Aug 2026): free plan available; Premium $129/mo; Pro $349/mo with the human mentorship services; annual pricing not published on the pricing page. Seven-day money-back guarantee.

Pick MenthorQ if your charting platform is non-negotiable and you want gamma levels drawn on it - or you want mentorship bundled with the data. If you want the live map inside Trade Echo instead, that is DealerEdge.

Best for flow-first breadth per dollar

Unusual Whalesfrom $50/mo

Unusual Whales is a flow platform first - real-time options flow, congressional trading trackers, screeners, a huge community - with a genuinely capable GEX toolkit attached. The gamma product includes total market GEX, a Zero Gamma (flip) level, per-strike GEX profiles, historical GEX-versus-price overlays, and, notably at this price, vanna and charm exposures. SPX market-maker exposure updates every 10 minutes on the Basic and Pro tiers; the 1-minute "GEX Periscope" is explicitly the Max-tier differentiator on their pricing page.

Best at: breadth per dollar. At $50/mo it is the cheapest credible entry into gamma data in this comparison, and it comes attached to the best-known flow and political-trading dataset in retail. Getting real vanna and charm at this price is strong value.

Trade-offs: GEX is a secondary feature, not the core product, and the depth shows it - expiration-level breakdowns and 0DTE-specific views are not detailed, and the 10-minute base cadence on SPX exposure is a real limitation for fast intraday traders unless you pay for Max. The pricing page lists no mobile app on the Basic tier, and API access is sold separately as a data product. For live GEX every second plus flow in one platform, see DealerEdge.

Pricing (as of Aug 2026): Retail Basic $50/mo ($504/yr billed annually), Pro $75/mo ($756/yr billed annually), Max $120/mo ($102/mo billed annually).

Pick Unusual Whales if options flow is your primary lens and you want solid gamma context on the side at the lowest cost of entry in the field.

Best for mobile apps and AI-friendly APIs

Quant Datafrom ~$59/mo (reported)

Quant Data is the one-app-for-everything play for retail flow traders: real-time options order flow, dark pool and lit prints, news with sentiment, algorithmic alerts, and TradingView-powered charting, with per-strike gamma exposure for SPY, SPX, QQQ, NDX and a claimed 6,000+ tickers. Two things distinguish it in this comparison: it ships genuine iOS and Android apps - still rare in this category - and its GEX data is available over a REST API with a hosted MCP server, so AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT can query it directly.

Best at: flow, dark pool, and news breadth per dollar, on real mobile apps, with the most AI-agent-friendly API in the space.

Trade-offs:the gamma product appears gamma-only - charm and vanna surfaces are not published - and the exact intraday refresh cadence is not stated. Reviewers note a steep learning curve and a pricey Discord add-on tier. Pricing is not published publicly - the vendor's pricing page now requires an account signup to view - so the figures below come from third-party reviews.

Pricing (as of Aug 2026): Standard ~$59/mo or $599/yr (pricing not published publicly - the pricing page requires signup; figures per third-party reviews); Professional-tier price not published. Seven-day free trial reported.

Pick Quant Data if you want one affordable subscription covering flow, dark pool, news, and workable GEX - especially if you trade from your phone or want your AI tools to pull the data programmatically. For specialist GEX plus native mobile, see DealerEdge.

Best for a specialist GEX heatmap at premium price

Heatseeker (Skylit)$699/mo

Heatseeker is the flagship GEX module of Skylit's AI trading terminal. Skylit prices Heatseeker GEX at $699/mo. The calling card is a claimed one-second refresh on dealer-exposure heatmaps that span both strikes and expirations, across a claimed 1,600+ tickers plus the index complex including SPXW. Around it, Skylit is building an ambitious all-in-one: Flowseeker for institutional flow, Atlas charting with dealer-wall overlays, and Talon, an AI market-structure agent, with an agent-builder announced.

Best at: a specialist expiration-dimension heatmap wrapped in an AI-terminal vision. If that single module is the whole product you want, this is the premium version of it.

Trade-offs: it is the most expensive retail GEX option in this comparison, and as a newer entrant, independent reviews are scarce - the one-second and data-depth claims are marketing-verified only. Charm and vanna are not listed. DealerEdge ships real-time GEX every second plus flow, dark pool, AlgoEdge, and Cortex at $199/mo. We compare the two feature-by-feature in DealerEdge vs Heatseeker.

Pricing (as of Aug 2026): Heatseeker GEX $699/mo ($6,948/yr); distributed via Whop.

Pick Heatseeker if you want a standalone premium GEX heatmap and are comfortable paying $699/mo for a fast-moving, still-maturing platform.

Best for learning the concepts

Budget & free GEX tools

Below the platforms above sits a fast-growing layer of cheap and free tools, useful for learning the concepts or sanity-checking a paid feed. FlashAlpha offers free GEX for a claimed 6,000+ tickers with API and MCP access. GEX Levels sells a TradingView overlay extension for $9.99/mo. ZeroGEX focuses on real-time 0DTE SPX, and Barchart publishes a free SPX GEX page. Smaller names - GexMetrix, GEXStream, Gamma Sonar, GEX Horizon and others - occupy similar niches. Two adjacent products are worth knowing even though they are different categories: Tier1Alpha, distributed through Hedgeye, is a daily research letter on systematic flows rather than an interactive tool (pricing not published), and OptionsDepth differentiates on exchange-tagged Cboe positioning data rather than modeled dealer books. The free tier is useful for education; the trade-off is usually cadence, coverage depth, and no derived levels. When you want live GEX every second with Flip, Anchor, and Defense Lines inside a full platform, that is DealerEdge.

04 /FAQs

Common questions

What is a GEX tool?

A GEX tool estimates the aggregate gamma exposure of options dealers from the option chain, then presents it as levels, profiles, or heatmaps traders can act on. Because dealers hedge the options they carry, concentrated gamma creates mechanical buying and selling pressure at specific prices - stabilizing in positive-gamma regimes, amplifying in negative ones. Every vendor on this page is ultimately selling a model of that pressure field. The critical word is model: nobody outside a dealer's risk system observes true inventory, so every tool relies on assumptions you should understand before trading on it. DealerEdgeis Trade Echo's version: a live strike-by-expiration map with Flip, Anchor, and Defense Lines, updated in real time every second. Start with What Is Gamma Exposure? and the GEX Flip Point explainer.

What is the best free GEX tool?

For pure zero-cost data, FlashAlpha's free tier is the broadest we have seen (claimed 6,000+ tickers plus API access), Barchart's free SPX GEX page is the simplest starting point, and MenthorQ's free plan is the best free on-ramp to a paid platform. Be realistic about what free buys: slower refreshes, thinner coverage, and no derived levels or alerts. Free tools are excellent for learning to read a gamma profile. When you want live GEX every second with derived levels, replay, and the rest of the Trade Echo platform, use DealerEdge at $199/mo.

What is the best GEX tool for SPX 0DTE?

Use DealerEdgeif you want SPX GEX in real time, every second, with 0DTE contracts included all session, a same-day expiration column on the heatmap, and session replay for reviewing how the day's positioning evolved - as part of the full Trade Echo platform at $199/mo. Heatseeker also claims a one-second refresh with expiration-level heatmaps, at $699/mo for Heatseeker GEX. For the mechanics of why SPX gamma dominates intraday tape, see SPX GEX Explained.

Is SpotGamma worth it?

If you want expert daily interpretation, yes - that is the honest answer from a competitor. The Founder's Note and the analyst layer are unmatched in the category, HIRO is a genuinely original real-time flow indicator on the data tier, and the firm has more institutional credibility than anyone else selling gamma data to individuals. Real-time tooling sits on the $299/mo Alpha tier and above. If you want a continuously recomputed strike map every second, first-class charm/vanna lenses, and the rest of a trading platform, use DealerEdge at $199/mo. Decide whether you are buying analysis or data infrastructure; SpotGamma is the best at the former, DealerEdge at the latter.
