How to Import Trades
Open your Trade Journal and use the import options. You can upload brokerage PDF statements, CSV files, or Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheets. Trade Echo parses the file and populates your journal automatically. For one-off trades, use the Add Trade button to log them by hand.
Which File Formats Are Supported?
Three formats are accepted: brokerage PDF statements, CSV files, and Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheets. Most major brokerage statement formats are recognized automatically. If your brokerage offers a choice of export formats, CSV is generally the most reliable option.
Manual Entry
Use the Add Trade button in the Trade Journal to log individual trades by hand. Enter the ticker, direction, entry and exit prices, and dates. Manual entry is useful for trades from any source, or when you want to add context that did not come through in an import.
What If My PDF Will Not Parse?
Some brokerage PDFs use formats that are harder to parse automatically. If a PDF statement does not import correctly, export your trades as a CSV directly from your brokerage platform and upload that file instead. CSV exports are structured data and tend to parse cleanly. If you are still stuck, post in the Discord community or contact support with your file format details.
Can I Edit an Imported Trade?
Yes. After importing, you can edit any trade in your journal to correct values, add notes, or fill in missing fields. No import is permanent or locked, so you can clean up any parsing errors directly in the journal view.
Troubleshooting
If trades are coming in with wrong prices or missing data, check that your export covers the correct date range and that the file is not password-protected. For persistent issues, the Discord community and the support team are both good resources.
