This guide covers the Option Flow filters, the built-in presets, and tips for adjusting based on market conditions.

## Filter Overview

Option Flow filters let you target exactly the trades that match your strategy. Open the **Filters** panel and combine any of the following:

| Filter | Description |
|--------|-------------|
| **Sentiment** | Bullish, Bearish, or All |
| **Call / Put** | Show only calls or only puts |
| **OTM Calls / OTM Puts** | Toggles - out-of-the-money calls or puts only |
| **Price < $2** | Toggle - low-cost, high-leverage contracts |
| **Size > 500** | Toggle - larger prints showing institutional interest |
| **Premium > $100K / > $250K** | Toggles - minimum total trade value |
| **Premium min / max** | Custom dollar range for total premium |
| **DTE min / max** | Days-to-expiration range (set max to 0 for 0DTE only) |
| **Volume > OI** | Toggle - volume exceeding open interest suggests new positions |
| **Execution** | At/above ask (aggressive buys) or at/below bid (aggressive sells) |
| **Flow Score minimum** | Hide rows below a minimum Flow Score |
| **Date range** | Limit the feed to a specific date window |

---

## Built-In Presets

Five one-click presets sit above the table. These are curated signal views - there are no user-saved presets:

| Preset | What it shows | Best for |
|--------|---------------|----------|
| **Directional** | Ask-side calls or bid-side puts with conviction (premium plus Flow Score) | Clean directional bets |
| **Repeaters** | The same ticker printing multiple times within a short window | Institutions building a position |
| **Sweeps** | Sweep executions only | Urgent, aggressive orders |
| **OTM calls** | Out-of-the-money calls only | Bullish speculation |
| **OTM puts** | Out-of-the-money puts only | Bearish speculation or hedging |

Presets stack with the Filters panel - start from a preset, then tighten with premium, DTE, or execution filters.

## Example Setups

### Conservative (swing trading, lower risk)

| Filter | Setting |
|--------|---------|
| Premium | > $250K toggle on (or a higher Premium min) |
| DTE | Min 7 |
| Volume > OI | On |
| Execution | At/above ask |

**Use when**: You want larger, more established institutional bets with less time decay risk.

### Aggressive (0DTE day trading)

| Filter | Setting |
|--------|---------|
| Price < $2 | On |
| Size > 500 | On |
| DTE | Max 0 (0DTE only) |
| Execution | At/above ask |
| Sentiment | Bullish or Bearish (pick a side) |

**Use when**: You are focused on same-day moves and accept higher volatility.

### Momentum (high-conviction directional)

| Filter | Setting |
|--------|---------|
| Preset | Directional |
| Premium | > $250K toggle on |
| DTE | Max 14 |
| Flow Score | Minimum set (raise it until only strong rows remain) |

**Use when**: You want high-leverage, high-volume momentum setups.

## Adjusting for Market Conditions

### High Volatility (VIX elevated)

- Turn on Size > 500 and the Premium > $100K or > $250K toggle to reduce noise
- Raise the Flow Score minimum if the feed is crowded
- Set DTE max to 0-2 for day trading

### Low Volatility (VIX low)

- Relax the size and premium toggles to catch more flow
- Keep a Premium min in place to focus on conviction
- Slightly longer DTE ranges (7-14) can work for swing plays

### Trending vs. Range-Bound

- **Trending**: Favor single-direction sentiment (Bullish or Bearish), or use the Directional preset
- **Range-Bound**: Consider both directions or no sentiment filter; flow may be more hedged

### Time of Day

- **Pre-market / Open**: DTE max 0-2 for morning momentum
- **Midday**: Same filters; watch the Repeaters preset for clusters
- **Afternoon**: Tighten filters; avoid new 0DTE entries after 2 PM

## Option Flow Alert Tiers

Option Flow alerts come in three tiers - **Golden**, **Aggressive**, and **Unusual** - managed from the alert preferences page in the app. Each tier is configurable with:

- **Minimum premium** ($)
- **Flow type** - Sweep, Block, or Trade
- **Execution side** - at/above ask, at/below bid, or midpoint
- **Volume > Open Interest** toggle
- **Max DTE** (0 = no cap)

Tune the tiers so each one means something to you - for example, keep Golden strict (high premium, sweeps at ask, Volume > OI) so a Golden alert is always worth a look.

## Tips for Fine-Tuning

1. **Start strict, then relax**: Begin with the premium and size toggles on. If you see too few rows, loosen one dimension at a time.
2. **Lean on presets**: Directional and Repeaters do the heavy lifting - layer filters on top rather than building from scratch.
3. **Track what works**: Note which preset and filter combinations produced your best trades.
4. **Update weekly**: Market regime changes; revisit filters at least weekly.
